We are looking for a reliable and organised finance professional to join a busy and friendly finance team, supporting the day-to-day accounting function and playing a key role in credit control, reconciliations, and supplier payments. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys responsibility, accuracy, and regular interaction with customers and suppliers.

The Role

As an Accounts Assistant / Finance Assistant, you will support core finance operations, ensuring financial records are accurate, payments are processed on time, and cashflow is well controlled.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generating and issuing customer invoices
  • Allocating customer payments accurately to invoices
  • Performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Managing credit control and actively chasing outstanding debt
  • Handling day-to-day finance queries from customers and suppliers
  • Matching supplier invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes
  • Posting invoices to purchase and sales ledgers
  • Processing GBP, EUR and USD payments via online banking platforms
  • Preparing and completing monthly supplier payment runs
  • Reconciling company credit cards
  • Completing supplier statement reconciliations
  • Supporting month-end and year-end audit preparation
  • Taking card payments when required

About You

You will be confident, methodical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced finance environment.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience as an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, or similar
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage accounting software
  • Good Excel skills (lookups, reconciliations, spreadsheets)
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Organised, structured and able to meet deadlines
  • Confident communicator with a professional telephone manner
  • Comfortable dealing with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
