Build your market. Build your reputation. Build your career.
Recruitment has changed. We believe the way recruiters work should change with it. The People Pod was founded by two people with more than 20 years' combined recruitment and sales experience who saw an opportunity to challenge traditional recruitment methods. Rather than chasing volume, we focus on quality over quantity. We build genuine relationships, invest in understanding our clients and candidates, and take a more considered approach to finding the right people - not simply the most available people. That philosophy has helped us build a growing specialist recruitment business working with ambitious organisations across the UK and Europe.
We’re now looking for an experienced Recruitment Consultant to help grow our Engineering market, with a particular focus on Nuclear, Defence and Energy Transition.
A head start, not a standing start. We’re already working with globally renowned engineering organisations on technically complex projects, giving you clients and live vacancies to work on from day one while you build your own market, network and reputation. These are markets where specialist skills are in high demand and where the work you’re recruiting for can contribute to major national and international programmes. We’re not looking for someone to simply fill vacancies. We want someone who wants to build a specialist market and become known within it.
What you’ll be doing
- You’ll take ownership of your market and the full recruitment lifecycle, from developing client relationships through to identifying and placing exceptional engineering talent.
- Build and grow your own client portfolio across Engineering and the wider Energy, Nuclear and Defence sectors.
- Win new business through targeted business development, networking, market mapping and proactive outreach.
- Build a high-calibre technical candidate network through headhunting, referrals and strategic market engagement.
- Manage the full recruitment process, from initial conversation through to offer and placement.
- Develop relationships with senior engineering, project and hiring stakeholders.
- Become a trusted recruitment partner, providing market intelligence, talent insights and advice.
- Develop an understanding of the technical disciplines, projects and skills driving your market.
- Build your personal brand and profile within the Engineering sector through LinkedIn, content, networking and industry engagement.
- Work collaboratively with the wider People Pod team to share market intelligence, opportunities and ideas.
What we’re looking for
- We’re looking for an experienced recruiter who understands what it takes to build relationships, win business and deliver results. You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience as a 360 Recruitment Consultant / Senior Consultant.
- Experience recruiting within Engineering, Nuclear, Defence, Energy or another technical market would be advantageous.
- A proven track record of winning new business and developing client relationships.
- Experience building and maintaining a strong candidate network.
- A track record of successful placements and managing the recruitment process from start to finish.
- The ability and willingness to understand technical disciplines and engage credibly with engineering professionals.
- The confidence to engage with senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Resilience, energy and a genuine desire to succeed.
- A belief that quality relationships and great recruitment matter more than simply chasing volume.
What you’ll get in return
- We believe that if you perform well, you should be properly rewarded - and that your career shouldn’t have a ceiling.
- Competitive basic salary + top-tier commission structure.
- Fast-track career progression.
- Structured learning & development, supported by experienced recruiters, trainers and coaches.
- The opportunity to build and own your own market.
- Established clients and live vacancies to give you momentum from day one.
- The opportunity to work on major Nuclear, Defence and Energy Transition programmes.
- Exposure to interesting clients and opportunities across the UK and internationally.
- 30 days’ annual leave.
- Your birthday off.
- Car allowance scheme.
- Holiday incentives.
- Lunch clubs at top restaurants.
- Regular team socials.
- Mobile phone.
- Modern Bolton office with breakout areas, kitchen, pool table and fully stocked drinks fridge.
- Gyms, restaurants and shops within walking distance.
- A collaborative environment where success is recognised and celebrated.
Recruit for work that matters. We’re growing, we have ambitious plans for the next few years, and we’d like the people who join us now to be a big part of that journey. You’ll have the opportunity to build a successful Engineering market, develop your own reputation, earn well and progress your career - while working on projects across Nuclear, Defence and Energy Transition that have genuine long-term importance.
