Our client is Europe’s largest private operator of indoor and outdoor markets and fayres. They are a family-run business that has been established for over 160 years and has huge, yet measured, growth plans to double their revenue over the next 5 years.
This opportunity offers full autonomy and a chance to add your own stamp to their success over the coming years. The ideal Operations Director will have an open mind yet the know-how to lead the operations activities and develop and drive strategy for new operational standards for the company.
This company is an agile business, helping make key decisions faster. You will be working closely with the sales and business development director and commercial finance management to develop the operational offerings to tenants and clients and identify opportunities to grow markets within the group.
With a turnover of £40m, you will have a team of around 35-40 employees including 3 area managers and 10 centre managers. You will work closely with your team to consistently deliver in several key areas such as Health & Safety, tenant/site issues and operations strategy.
The Ideal Operations Director Will Demonstrate The Ability To:
- Develop operations strategy focused on both financial gain, operational efficiencies and improved customer satisfaction that supports business growth targets and the business plan.
- Support the maximising of rental income in all operational centres by ensuring operations supports marketing and other business development activities.
- Ensure that operations develop procedures and maintain high standards in operational delivery and Health & Safety.
- Lead the operational team ensuring a culture of high standards, continuous improvement and teamwork in line with the company's values and policies.
- Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements under the Health and Safety Acts.
- Ensure operations maintain excellent relationships with new and existing customers, local authority clients and private sector clients creating customer satisfaction always.
- Review individual markets managed or owned by the company and establish an operational efficiency and effectiveness improvement plan to support improved profitability.
- Ensure operations supports the development of the bid pipeline.
- Prepare mobilisation plans and lead in the implementation when successful of new contracts.
- Promote and maintain that operational staff will provide a favourable image of the organisation through excellent working relationships with customers and clients.
- Attend meetings, presentations and exhibitions as a representative for the business.
- Ensure operations supports the development of sales activities and business development on all operational sites and contracts.
- Provide the necessary management support and supervision to ensure that operational managers and operational staff are competent, well-trained, motivated and able to discharge their duties effectively.
- Be a key member of the UK executive management team providing support on projects as directed from time to time by manager.
