This is a pivotal leadership role in a growing business with ambition. With a strong brand, a committed team, and a clear vision for growth, you will be stepping into a rare opportunity to lead, shape, and grow something significant. If you are commercially-minded, client-focused, and excited by the chance to make a real impact, this could be the role that defines the next phase of your career.

Our client is a high performing, private equity backed consultancy that specialises in project management, cost consultancy, and building surveying. Founded less than 40 years ago, the business has grown from a small start-up into a global operation with over 2,500 professionals delivering mission-critical projects across multiple sectors.

Within the UK and Europe, the business now employs circa 800 people and has ambitions to double in size within the next five years. The company operates across major UK cities and is particularly active in large-scale infrastructure, commercial, and public sector developments.

The business remains focused and disciplined in its service offering, eschewing a multidisciplinary model in favour of deep expertise and consistent delivery. With strong financial backing and a leadership team focused on operational excellence, the business is on a clear path to significant growth, driven by a combination of organic expansion and strategic acquisitions.

This is a unique opportunity to lead the Building Surveying business across the UK. With an established team, a strong client base, and a platform generating over £2m in fees, the ambition now is to scale this to £5m and beyond. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Building Surveying to lead 25 professionals from graduates to Associate Director level. As Head of Building Surveying, you will be responsible for driving this growth, building on solid foundations while developing new client relationships, leading strategic initiatives, and enhancing delivery excellence. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires someone who is hungry, commercial, and entrepreneurial. You will need to be as comfortable pitching for new business as you are developing your team and delivering high-quality outcomes for clients.

You will work closely with the UK Managing Director and other business line leaders to align your growth strategy with national objectives and play a key role in the leadership of the wider business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Leadership: Lead and grow the UK Building Surveying team, owning the P&L and setting the direction for growth and performance.
  • Client Development: Build and expand key client relationships, identifying and winning new opportunities across core sectors.
  • Operational Oversight: Drive delivery excellence, commercial performance, and team efficiency across all projects and clients.
  • Strategic Alignment: Work collaboratively with national leadership to align strategy, share best practice, and contribute to the broader business vision.
  • Team Leadership: Inspire and develop the existing team, ensuring high levels of engagement, capability, and performance.
  • Brand Ambassador: Act as an ambassador for the business in the market, building brand visibility and reinforcing its reputation for quality and innovation.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proven track record in leading and scaling a high-performing building surveying business or team.
  • Strong business development skills and ability to grow fee income from an established base.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a hunger to build something significant.
  • Excellent commercial acumen and client relationship skills.
  • Deep knowledge of the London property and construction sector.
  • Natural leader who can inspire teams and build trust.
  • MRICS/FRICS qualified.

This is a career-defining role for an ambitious professional looking to make a real impact at the highest level. If you are ready to take ownership, drive growth, and lead one of the UK’s most talented Building Surveying teams we want to hear from you.
