The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Manager to lead all aspects of technical and quality operations across the UK business. Reporting to the Technical & Development Director, this role will take ownership of customer relationships, supplier management, compliance and quality systems, ensuring the business continues to deliver exceptional service and product integrity.
You will act as the key technical contact for customers and suppliers, driving standards, supporting business growth and leading on all technical and compliance-related activities.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead all UK customer technical requirements, ensuring compliance with retailer COPs and expectations
- Act as the main technical contact for customers and 3rd party suppliers
- Manage supplier approval processes, risk assessments, and maintain the approved supplier database
- Develop and maintain strong relationships across the supply chain, including international partners
- Maintain BRC Agents & Brokers accreditation and lead customer and external audits
- Own and continuously improve the Quality Management System
- Lead the HACCP team, including plan management, reviews and training
- Investigate non-conformances and complaints, ensuring timely and effective resolution
- Manage internal audit programmes and ensure corrective actions are implemented
- Support traceability exercises and ensure full supply chain visibility
- Utilise systems (including ERP/SAP) to manage technical data and traceability
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the Technical Assistant
- Monitor emerging risks, legislation changes and industry developments
Person Profile
- Proven experience within FMCG, food manufacturing or food distribution in a technical/quality role
- Experience managing retailer relationships and customer technical requirements would be ideal
- Previous experience in supplier approval, auditing and quality systems management
- HACCP Level 3 minimum (Level 4 desirable)
- Lead Auditor qualification advantageous
- Strong IT skills, with ERP/SAP experience desirable
- Proactive, self-motivated and solutions-focused
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
- Able to manage multiple priorities and work at pace
- Commercially aware with a strong focus on continuous improvement and customer service
