Job Purpose
To manage and deliver scientific and technical projects (training, consultancy, and research) giving high quality and cost-effective solutions to clients both internal and external.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Identifying business opportunities and maximizing commercial developments.
- Initiating new business and assisting in the development of marketing activities.
- Proposing new allergen services and suggesting improvements of current services to expand and promote regulatory and allergen portfolio to new and existing clients.
- Managing relationships with clients and external partners; preparing quotes and proposals.
- Management of and liaison with clients in the area of food allergens, including answering technical inquiries from clients and colleagues.
- Interpretation of testing results where required, and the provision of consultancy, information, training, and advice.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of scientific and technical issues concerning food allergens and their application for operational support in food production businesses.
- Actively contributing and supporting the Safety and Quality Team Lead in the development of the team within the allergens field.
- Establishing, managing, and developing processes and applying control in the form of improvement and root cause analysis.
- Supporting the development of quality assurance, customer service, and internal protocols.
- Implementing, reviewing, and optimizing internal and client processes.
Qualifications
- Graduate level qualification(s) in science, law, or related subjects.
- At least 3 to 5 years’ experience of food allergen management and its role in the wider context of food production (such as alignment with HACCP), and the theory and practice of testing, specifically using ELISA, DNA-based, or mass spectrometry techniques.
- Acknowledged expertise in the field of food allergen testing, evidenced through the production of publications, contribution to training, and/or involvement in relevant research.
- Good understanding of the food industry.
- Proven track record in mentoring colleagues.
- Experience of large-scale project management and securing significant revenue.
- Excellent oral, written, IT, and presentation skills. Fluency in additional language desirable but not essential.
- Customer service-oriented and committed to providing an outstanding level of service to all.
