Our client, a rapidly growing international organisation within the food and ingredients sector, is seeking a skilled and motivated Production Operative to support processing operations at its Rotterdam facility. Job Role

The Production Operative will be responsible for operating and monitoring plant equipment used in cleaning, sorting, grading, and handling processes. Working within a fast-paced production environment, you will ensure product quality, maximise efficiency, and maintain compliance with food safety standards. This role is ideal for a technically capable individual with experience in food or grain processing who thrives in a hands-on operational setting.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor plant machinery for cleaning, sorting, grading, and handling processes.
  • Optimise machine settings to achieve required quality standards and production targets.
  • Monitor product quality, ensuring removal of impurities and substandard materials.
  • Conduct routine quality checks on both incoming and finished products.
  • Minimise product loss and reduce rejection levels through effective process control.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and coordinate with maintenance teams for technical issues.
  • Maintain accurate production, quality, and traceability records.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, and EU food safety regulations.
  • Follow all health & safety procedures and company policies at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with production and quality teams to ensure smooth operations.

Personal Profile

  • Technical qualification (Diploma or vocational training in Mechanical, Electrical, or Food Processing).
  • 2–5 years’ experience in food processing environments.
  • Experience with cleaning, grading, and optical colour sorting equipment (e.g. Sortex) is highly desirable.
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to operate automated machinery.
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on product quality.
  • Problem-solving ability for basic equipment and process issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work shifts in a production environment.
  • Basic English communication skills required (Dutch is an advantage).
