Our client, a leading UK wholesaler in their discipline, is seeking an experienced Site Operations Supervisor to join its Operations team based at its Park Royal depot. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on operational leader with experience within food production, warehousing or distribution, looking to play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service, operational efficiency and high food safety standards within a fast-paced wholesale environment.

Reporting to the Depot Manager, the Day Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Day Team, ensuring customer orders are delivered safely, accurately and on time while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, health & safety and operational performance. Working closely with colleagues across Operations, Warehouse, Transport and the wider wholesale business, you will support in health & safety, hygiene, general maintenance and more.

This is a full-time, permanent, site-based role working Monday to Friday, offering the opportunity to join a well-established and growing business renowned for the quality of its products and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop team members, ensuring high levels of engagement, accountability and performance
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, company policies and safe working practices
  • Deliver Health & Safety training and maintain accurate training and compliance records
  • Ensure appropriate PPE is worn and all daily, weekly and annual safety checks are completed
  • Oversee food safety standards, ensuring compliance with Food Safety regulations, SALSA requirements and company procedures
  • Supervise the cleaning team to ensure the depot is maintained to the highest hygiene standards
  • Attend daily handover meetings and allocate work effectively across the day team
  • Coordinate daily activities including order picking, packing, pre-preparation, vacuum packing, stock freezing, goods receiving, returns processing and late order fulfilment
  • Ensure the depot is fully prepared for the night shift and that operational areas remain organised and efficient
  • Coordinate holidays and team absences to ensure appropriate operational cover
  • Monitor operational KPIs, ensuring customer expectations are consistently achieved
  • Maintain and improve operational procedures and provide KPI reporting to the wider business
  • Liaise effectively with Warehouse, Transport, Sales and other internal departments to resolve operational issues
  • Support business growth through continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence
  • Ensure sustainability initiatives are embedded throughout daily operations and contribute towards reducing environmental impact

Personal Profile

  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience within a food production, warehouse, wholesale or distribution environment
  • Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and quality standards
  • Food Safety Level 2 qualification or willingness to obtain
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and operational compliance requirements
  • Excellent people management and team development skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environment
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and other operational systems
  • Commercial awareness with an understanding of operational KPIs and business performance
  • Experience working alongside HR, Quality Assurance and Health & Safety functions would be advantageous
  • Proactive problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to leadership
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships across the business
  • Flexible approach to working hours in line with business requirements
