A leading food manufacturing business supplying high-quality products to major UK retailers. The business operates in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment with a strong focus on food safety, quality, compliance and continuous improvement across its sites.
This is a senior, site-based technical leadership role with full accountability for food safety, quality and legality across the factory. You will lead the factory-facing technical team, ensure compliance with customer and legislative requirements, and drive continuous improvement against agreed technical KPIs.
You will act as the senior technical representative on site, working closely with Operations, NPD, Supply Chain and senior leadership, while also representing the business during customer visits, audits and launches.
Key Accountabilities- Full day-to-day technical management of the factory
- Overall accountability for food safety, quality, legality and technical compliance
- Leadership, development and performance management of the site technical team
- Delivery of site technical plans aligned to customer, business and regulatory requirements
- Driving continuous improvement in factory standards and technical KPIs
- Development, management and improvement of customer joint quality plans
- Effective preparation for and leadership of customer and certification audits
- Representation of the site at customer meetings, visits, audits and product launches
- Strong cross-functional working with Operations, NPD, Supply Chain and the wider SLT
- Effective use of data and KPIs to monitor performance and drive improvement
- Technical input into product development, process design and factory trials
- Deputising for the Head of Technical as required
- Qualifications
- Degree qualified in a food-related discipline
- HACCP Level 3
- Food Safety Level 3
- TACCP / Food Integrity
- Lead Auditor qualification
- Full UK driving licence
- Proven technical or quality management experience within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment (ideally chilled foods)
- Strong UK retailer exposure, ideally with Top 5 retailers
- BRC audit experience, including leading retailer and certification audits
- Demonstrated experience managing a factory-facing technical team
- Track record of driving technical standards, compliance and KPI performance
- Sound understanding of UK and European food legislation
