Your role will sit within our Market Oversight directorate; Market Oversight plays a central role in helping us understand how the pensions market is evolving and where risks and opportunities are emerging. You will contribute to building a system-wide view of schemes and the wider market - using data, insight and engagement to identify potential risks to members, and to highlight areas where standards can be improved. This includes monitoring trends, horizon scanning for new developments, and supporting proactive engagement with schemes and industry stakeholders in line with our newly published corporate plan.
As a specialist grade ‘Supervisor’, you’ll play a key role in our MT DC team (covering all master trusts, DC schemes and CDC schemes). Primarily you will support in the management of a portfolio of the schemes which fall within your segment team – this might include, for example, being the main point of contact for a hybrid master trust, or working closely with a multi-disciplinary team; together managing an important regulatory relationship. This means helping to assess risks, to inform regulatory priorities, and contribute to interventions where needed. You will also work closely with colleagues and external partners to influence behaviours and support a transparent and well-functioning pensions system. This is a great opportunity to get involved in a wide range of work. As a supervisor you will be expected to be, or have the right skills to show you can quickly become, a governance expert, as you will have a role in influencing market practice and may gain exposure to DB, DC and DC schemes. Extensive pensions experience is not necessary but working in a relevant sector is a plus – key though is an ability to adapt, think on your feet and pick up tasks; thinking and acting proactively are the keys to success in this role.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Support and where appropriate, lead, supervisory engagement with a portfolio of pension schemes and act as a key regulatory contact.
- Assess and prioritise risks, exercising judgement to help shape supervision strategies and interventions.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver positive outcomes for savers.
- Build effective relationships with trustees, providers, advisers and other stakeholders.
- Use data, insight and market intelligence to identify emerging risks and inform regulatory priorities.
- Provide governance and supervision expertise, supporting capability across the team.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, projects and organisational priorities.
- Support decisions on regulatory and enforcement activity where appropriate.
