Your role sits within our Market Oversight directorate. Market Oversight plays a central role in helping us understand how the pensions market is evolving and where risks and opportunities are emerging. You will contribute to building a market-wide view of pension schemes and the wider impacted economy—using data, insight, and engagement to identify potential risks to members, and highlight areas where standards can be improved. This includes monitoring trends, horizon scanning, and supporting proactive engagement with schemes and industry stakeholders in line with our corporate plan. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide support in identifying and assessing risks, establishing regulatory priorities, and planning interventions where needed. You will work closely with colleagues and external stakeholders to influence behaviours and support a transparent and well-functioning pensions system. As a Lead Associate you will provide support to colleagues and sometimes lead on elements of the supervision of DC Master Trusts, DC Schemes, and CDC Schemes. This is a great opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of work and can be used as a stepping stone to become one of our supervisors and have a direct role in influencing industry practice. Extensive pensions experience is not necessary; an ability to adapt, think on your feet, pick up tasks, and be proactive are key to success in this role.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Work with internal colleagues and advisers to help develop and deliver effective scheme supervision strategies.
  • Help manage and prioritise a portfolio of work to ensure deadlines and service standards are met.
  • Identify risks via scheme engagement and escalates issues appropriately, using sound judgement.
  • Support and, in some cases lead, engagement with schemes to improve outcomes for members.
  • Contribute to increasing collective team competency by identifying knowledge gaps and supporting learning and development activity.
  • Use data, insight, and engagement to support decision-making and inform regulatory interventions.

You’ll Bring

  • Experience in using document and workflow management systems.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, set targets, determine priorities, and manage conflicting demands.
  • Ability to work outside of existing processes by thinking creatively about how to approach a task or solve problems.
  • Knowledge of TPR’s supervision process and/or experience of working with external stakeholders.
  • Experience of communicating with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience of supporting decision making in a fast-paced and detailed environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the supervision of the DC Master Trust and Collective Defined Contribution pensions market.
  • Support Teams in their roles both internally and externally.
  • Manage a portfolio of work within required SLAs.
  • Escalate risks as required.
  • Proactively engage with schemes in line with risk prioritisation.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of scheme strategies.
  • Deputise for other members of the team as necessary.
  • Work with the wider organisation to achieve desired outcomes.
