Who are we?

As a totally independent body, not part of the pensions industry or government, we investigate and make decisions when someone has been unable to resolve a complaint about how their pension has been managed. Our service is free, but we have legal powers to make decisions that are final, binding, and enforceable in court. Our work can be challenging and high-profile, delivering a fair outcome for the individual and highlighting where the pensions industry can improve. Focusing on the facts, we must be balanced, fair and totally independent.

Purpose of the role

Reporting to the Information Governance Manager and working closely with the Governance Manager, the postholder will play a key role in TPO’s information governance, risk management and assurance activities. This role will sit alongside our Information Governance Manager as part of the Communications, Engagement and Insight team, but will work on a variety of activities requiring close working with experts from across Corporate Services. This role provides exposure to stakeholders both across TPO’s casework and legal teams and more widely with DWP’s Partnership Team and other functional leads.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing support to the Information Governance Manager in responding to Freedom of Information requests and Subject Access Requests.
  • Coordinating regular risk and assurance updates to the Executive, Corporate Board and DWP.
  • Provide support to subject matter experts in responding to audit requests and other assurance-related requests for information, for example GIAA and NAO activity, and GovAssure and other cyber security-related frameworks.
  • Supporting the Governance Manager in the delivery of regular Governance activities such as action trackers and update papers.
  • Ensuring that TPO’s policies are managed and communicated effectively to meet the needs of the organisation.
  • Ensure an excellent standard of data quality and records management is in place across Corporate Services.
  • Working flexibly across Corporate Services as necessary and any other duties that may reasonably be required.
