You will manage complex data and modelling processes, oversee governance and quality standards, and contribute to the development of actuarial assumptions and modelling approaches. The role requires close collaboration with technical specialists from a range of disciplines and offers opportunities to share expertise, support colleagues and mentor newer team members. Your work will help improve understanding of pension scheme funding, investment and risk, providing evidence and analysis that supports decision-making across the regulator. This is an opportunity to apply specialist actuarial and modelling expertise to work that contributes to effective regulation and better outcomes across the pensions landscape.

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Enjoys sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues and helping others develop their capability.

The role criteria

  • Current or past IFoA membership with pensions and modelling experience, or able to demonstrate significant relevant pensions and modelling experience with breadth and depth of knowledge.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of pension funding methodologies, financial markets, actuarial assumptions, and the factors affecting defined benefit and defined contribution pensions.
  • Significant experience applying pensions, actuarial and modelling knowledge in the practical modelling of pension schemes.
  • Good knowledge of UK occupational pension scheme investment asset classes and financial modelling of pension scheme assets.
  • Experience of managing projects, prioritising competing demands and coordinating delivery to meet customer requirements and timescales.
  • Experience of reviewing, managing and applying governance standards to large actuarial and financial data sets.
  • Strong communication skills, including experience of presenting and explaining complex technical information in a clear and effective way.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills, including VBA programming, and the ability to learn and apply new software and programming tools for actuarial modelling.
