On a technical level the role would involve the following:
Statutory Accounting – You will be responsible for reviewing and signing off company accounts prepared by junior team members. Accounts will be prepared under both FRS102 and FRS105.
Company Tax Returns – You will review and sign off on company tax returns, while identifying planning opportunities for our tax team.
Self-Assessment Tax Returns – You will review and sign off on self-assessment tax returns and manage the compliance process throughout the year for your portfolio of clients.
Bookkeeping – Although primarily handled by junior team members, your support and advice may be required, especially during the onboarding of new clients.
Management Accounts – You will prepare and submit management accounts for a small subset of your portfolio.
VAT Returns – You will review and sign off on VAT returns, support clients with registration, and identify VAT opportunities and risks within your portfolio.
Soft Skills – You will be responsible for managing more junior members of the team. We expect you to provide guidance and support to ensure effective workload management. You will also lead new business calls and work towards growing your portfolio with the support of management.
We are looking for someone who is experienced in signing off accounts/tax returns as well as independently managing a portfolio of clients. Perhaps you’re working in a larger firm and are hoping for a role with greater work/life balance and independence? If so, this is the role for you!, Professional Qualification – ACA or ACCA qualified is essential.
Experience – Ideally 2-3 years’ post qualified experience in practice, with prior experience independently managing a portfolio.
Technology – Experience with Xero, TaxCalc and Excel would be a plus but not essential provided you are able and willing to learn. The vast majority of your portfolio will use Xero as opposed to other bookkeeping solutions.
Personality – We are seeking an individual who can independently manage a portfolio and, in time, a small team. The ideal candidate should be independent, honest, personable, and friendly., A-Level or equivalent (preferred)
Experience:
accounting: 3 years (required)
Salary – Dependant on experience but expected to be in the range of GBP35,000-GBP42,000.
Part time – for the right person we would be happy to offer this as a part time role
