Finding Futures is a specialist further education college based at the Royal United Hospital Bath and The University of Bath. We are seeking a skilled and flexible Communication Support Worker (CSW) to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a deaf and Autistic young person enrolled on a Supported Internship programme. This role is primarily focused on facilitating communication to ensure the learner can fully access both classroom‑based learning (around 20% of the timetable) and work experience placements (around 80% of the timetable). You will play a key role in enabling the learner to engage with colleagues, supervisors, and training staff, helping them develop independence and confidence in workplace environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide communication support and interpreting (e.g. BSL, lip speaking, note‑taking) across classroom and workplace settings
- Support the learner to understand instructions, training content, and workplace expectations
- Adapt communication and information to suit the learner’s needs
- Facilitate effective communication between the learner, staff, peers, and employers
- Support the learner in developing independence and workplace communication skills
- Assist with navigating new environments, routines, and social interactions in the workplace
- Work collaboratively with tutors, job coaches, and employers to support learner progression
- Maintain accurate records and provide feedback on progress
This role combines traditional CSW responsibilities with broader support to enable access to, and progression within, employment‑focused learning environments.
