Location: Woking Onsite (surrounding Surrey areas - including Guildford, Farnborough, and Camberley)

Rate: £35 per hour

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Financial Controller to join our network on a self-employed basis. This role involves supporting a range of SME clients across Surrey, providing hands-on financial leadership and strategic insight. You will work closely with business owners and senior stakeholders, delivering high-quality financial control, reporting, and commercial guidance tailored to each client's needs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of financial control for multiple clients
  • Prepare and present monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Deliver budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Provide strategic financial advice to support business growth
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and financial regulations
  • Improve financial processes, systems, and controls
  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and other stakeholders as required

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar senior finance role
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and commercial acumen
  • Comfortable working across multiple businesses and industries
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to work independently
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) preferred or 5 years QBE
