We are supporting a well-established, high-growth recruitment business in Bromley, seeking an experienced Financial Controller to support the finance function on a self-employed basis. This is a critical role as the business prepares for an imminent audit and manages a complex, multi-entity group structure. You will provide senior financial leadership, technical accounting expertise, and oversight of a large finance team (12-15 people). While the team will manage day-to-day processing, this role requires someone who can confidently review, challenge, and step in where necessary β particularly around audit, FX, and group consolidation matters.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure technical accounting accuracy across the group, including consolidations and statutory reporting
- Oversee foreign exchange (FX) accounting on the balance sheet across multiple entities
- Review and enhance financial controls, governance, and reporting processes
- Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to a large finance team (12-15 staff)
- Step in operationally when required to support the team during peak periods or complex issues
- Work closely with senior stakeholders to provide clear financial insight
- Lead and take accountability for the year-end close and external audit
- Review and sign off statutory accounts and audit deliverables
Key Requirements
- Experience managing cash flow and balance sheet control
- Strong technical accounting background with proven audit experience
- Demonstrable experience with FX in a multi-entity / group environment
- Confident managing and leading sizeable finance teams
- Provide insightful and timely management accounts
- Experience using Sage Intacct
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment (recruitment or professional services experience desirable)
- Experience working directly with boards and senior stakeholders
