Part‑Time Financial Controller – Manchester & Surrounding Areas
We\’re looking for an experienced, detail-driven Financial Controller to join The Part‑Time Finance People and support a portfolio of ambitious SME clients across Manchester and the surrounding areas.
About the Role
This is a hands‑on, commercially focused role where you\’ll lead the finance function, bring clarity to the numbers, and help business owners make smarter, more confident decisions. You\’ll work flexibly on a part‑time basis, delivering real value where it\’s needed most.
About You
You\’re an experienced Financial Controller who thrives in growing SME environments and enjoys making a tangible difference. You\’re commercially minded, proactive, and confident communicating financial insights to non‑financial stakeholders. Ideally, you\’re already self‑employed or operating on a contract basis, with availability of at least 2 days per week and able to start at short notice.
What You\’ll Bring
- Strong experience preparing management accounts and financial reports
- Expertise in balance sheet reconciliations
- Proven ability in cashflow management and profit forecasting
- Experience with Xero (with exposure to Sage50 and/or QuickBooks a bonus)
- A track record of implementing and improving financial controls
- Commercial awareness and a practical, business‑focused mindset
- Experience supporting year‑end processes (excluding statutory accounts)
- Advanced Excel skills (including PivotTables, SUMIFs, and data visualisation)
- Confidence presenting financial insights to non‑financial leaders
- Fully qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACMA/FCCA/ICAEW) or QBE (5+ years), with experience managing a finance team
