About the Role

The Part-Time Finance People is looking for an experienced, proactive, and highly organised Senior Bookkeeper / Finance Manager to join our internal team. This is a flexible senior role suited to an experienced finance professional looking for autonomy, variety, and work-life balance while remaining hands-on within a growing business.

The role is primarily remote, with attendance required at our Farnham office approximately 1 day per week. We are open to candidates seeking either employed or self-employed arrangements, with flexibility around working patterns including school hours.

This position combines hands-on bookkeeping and finance management responsibilities with team leadership and operational support. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing client relationships, working directly with clients remotely on their day-to-day finance requirements, and overseeing an outsourced bookkeeping team to ensure a consistently high standard of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing day-to-day bookkeeping activities for clients
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns
  • Managing accounts payable and receivable
  • Onboarding new clients and ensuring smooth implementation processes
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients, providing ongoing support and advice
  • Leading, supporting, and reviewing the work of an outsourced team of bookkeepers
  • Delegating workloads and ensuring deadlines are met across the team
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance
  • Using cloud-based accounting systems efficiently
  • Supporting wider finance operations and process improvements where required

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a senior bookkeeping or finance management role
  • Experienced with Xero (experience with Sage50 and QuickBooks advantageous)
  • Experience managing or supervising finance/bookkeeping teams
  • Confident working directly with clients and building strong relationships
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Payroll experience desirable
  • Must be able to travel to the Farnham office approximately 1 day per week
