The Parks Trust is an independent charity managing over 6,000 acres of beautiful green spaces in Milton Keynes. We employ more than 100 full and part-time staff and 240 volunteers to deliver essential work, including landscape maintenance and nature services.
Position Location: Global House, Vincent Avenue, Crownhill, Milton Keynes, MK8 0AB
Salary: £31,200.00 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role, hours may vary and will include evening and weekend working.
Flexibility: We understand the need to balance life and commitments in and out of work and will support flexibility wherever it is practical to do so.
Key Objectives:
- Lead the team specialising in ‘Parks Infrastructure & Maintenance (hard works)’, ensuring all work carried out achieves high levels of efficiency and effectiveness and that all operations are carried out in a safe manner.
- Help ensure the green estate is maintained and presented to a high standard.
- Understand the training requirements of the team and ensure relevant training is undertaken.
- Take the lead in developing trainees and regularly apprising the Direct Works Manager of their progress.
- Support the team in promoting the values and culture of the organisation.
- Show good leadership and motivate other team members involved in the team.
- Work closely with the Direct Works Manager and other Direct Works Supervisors to ensure close cooperation within the wider Direct Works team.
- Support the Direct Works Manager in developing a healthy team culture based on mutual respect, openness and honesty.
Requirements:
- Experience of carrying out ‘Hard and Ground Works’ to a high standard is essential.
- Basic carpentry and masonry skills.
- Good leadership skills and lead by example.
- Be prepared and motivated to take on further training that will help enhance your individual skill levels.
- Effective communication skills with team members, other Trust staff, general public and third parties.
- A full manual driving license is required.
- Experience of using Microsoft 365.
- Demonstrate a robust approach to Health & Safety underpinned by a good knowledge of industry best practice.
- Excavator experience and qualifications.
- Experience using ARCGis.
