We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and patient-focused Practice Nurse or experienced Health Care Assistant to join our friendly and supportive GP Practice team on a 6-month fixed-term contract to provide maternity leave cover within our nursing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a busy, well-established practice delivering high-quality care to our patient population.
Applicants should possess excellent communication and organisational skills, be able to work independently as well as part of a team, and demonstrate a caring and professional approach to patient care. The contracted hours for this role are 34.5 per week with the following work pattern:
- Monday: 8.00 to 17.30
- Tuesday: 13.00 to 20.00
- Thursday: 8.00 to 17.30
- Friday: 8.00 to 18.00

Job responsibilities:
Practice Nurse:The Practice Nurse will work as part of the primary healthcare team providing Personal Medical Services to the patients of the practice. At all times they will need to maintain accurate patient records.
- Wound care/ulcer care
- Doppler and compression management
- Removal of sutures or clips
- Urinalysis
- ECGs
- Venepuncture
- Routine immunisations/childhood immunisations
- Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician
- Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
- Requesting pathology tests, which would include - urine culture and swabs.
- Maintaining and cleaning equipment used
- Maintaining GP and nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
- Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
- Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.
- On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits
- Any other delegate duties appropriate to the post by senior staff
Working under the direct supervision of the Lead Practice Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific Practice guidelines and protocols, the Health Care Assistant will assist the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

Person Specification:
Experience: Practice Nurse applicants must be experienced and competent in delivering the core nursing duties associated with this position. Health Care Assistant applicants must have previous experience working as a Health Care Assistant within a GP practice.
Knowledge of EMIS
Qualifications: Practice Nurse applicants must be a Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration. Health Care Assistant applicants must have completed the Care Certificate, be qualified in Phlebotomy and possess a good standard of general education.
