The predicted salary is between 13 - 16 £ per hour.

Due to a reorganisation within the Admin Department, we are looking for a part time Administrator to work within our busy, friendly GP Practice. This is a part time role for 34 hours a week. The work pattern will be:

  • Tuesday: 08:00 - 17:00
  • Thursday: 08:00 - 17:00
  • Friday: 08:00 - 17:00

You will need to have previous experience from working in a GP Practice or NHS, have excellent IT skills, be able to work under pressure and have great attention to detail. You must be able to work both autonomously and as part of a team.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to carry out a range of administrative jobs to include:

  • Monitoring the Practice administration email account
  • Processing 3rd party insurance and solicitor requests/reports
  • Contacting patients for follow ups
  • Booking blood test appointments
  • Filing and scanning of incoming documents
  • Answering the bypass phone line

Full training will be provided.

Job responsibilities

  • Scanning and electronic discharges
  • Scan patient correspondence onto the medical record and workflow to correct route
  • Monitoring Practice email account and action accordingly
  • Patient liaison
  • Contact patients to organise appointments, further tests etc at the request of the GPs
  • Processing 3rd party insurance and solicitors requests/reports
  • Answering the Practice bypass phone line
  • Any other tasks that may be required for the effective day to day running of the practice

  • Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines
  • Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks
  • Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills
  • Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards
  • Actively reporting health and safety hazards and infection hazards immediately when recognised
  • Keeping own work areas and general/patient areas generally clean, assisting in the maintenance of general standards of cleanliness consistent with the scope of the job holder's role
  • Undertaking periodic infection control training (minimum annually)

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • English Language GCSE in English and Maths
  • Computer Literacy - familiarity with a variety of Office software systems

Experience

  • Previous employment in an administrative role in a GP Practice or the NHS
