Born out of our love of travel, Paper High began as a round-the-world trip. Since 2002, we have been selling Fair Trade products and unusual eco-friendly, ethical gifts, all of which are handmade in India, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
We have an exciting opportunity for a PR guru to join our small but mighty ecommerce team. As a small company, we are perfect for someone who either wants to build their skill set across the full breadth of online communications, or for someone who wants to make a real difference and have an equal voice in how our ecommerce business is run.
We’re looking for someone who isn’t scared of contacting the press, influencers, content creators and using various software/platforms to increase our brand awareness and sales. You’ll be responsible for the brand’s tone of voice and public relations as well as the day-to-day management, maintenance and performance of all Paper High online channels, and the recommendation and execution of marketing activities.
You’ll work closely with our Ecommerce Manager and Marketing Executive on a daily basis, and with our Creative Director on regular photoshoots, content etc.
Key responsibilities
Develop and execute digital PR strategies to secure high-quality backlinks from authoritative publications (DA50+)
Proactively pitch stories and commentary to journalists and editors
Respond to journalist requests via HARO and similar platforms
Build and maintain relationships with press, influencers and content creators in the ecommerce and Fair Trade space
Support the Ecommerce Manager with SEO/GEO improvements and collaborate with our Marketing and Social Media Executive
Identify newsjacking opportunities and reactive PR angles
Drafting press releases, blog posts, and media statements
Supporting delivery of PR campaigns across paid, earned, and owned channels
Collaborating with influencer, social, and brand teams to amplify campaigns and UGC
Assist with the day-to-day running of our ecommerce platforms including stock management, product listings and optimisation, blog creation, and being the point of contact for any third-party agencies we use for our marketing activities including affiliates.
Work with our Marketing Executive to plan and launch our marketing campaigns including liaising with press and blog contacts to be included in articles and gift guides.
Assisting our Creative Director with photography and shoots as required.
Competitor and market research as required.
Involvement in our monthly ecommerce meetings, reporting appropriate figures and setting monthly and quarterly goals.
Most of all, we’re looking for someone who has great ideas and would love to have an equal voice in how our online marketing and channels are run, with a view to increase our orders and repeat customers. This could include suggesting actionable improvements, software or platforms.
The ideal candidate will either have a marketing / PR / communications degree and some experience working within ecommerce, or be a PR professional with proven experience of increasing sales and/or press/influencer management.
A sound comprehension of English spelling and grammar for copywriting, and a creative background with acute attention to detail.
IT skills are a must (knowing your way around a computer) as all our work is online.
Familiarity with the following software/platforms used for the role would also be preferable, but not required:
WooCommerce
Photoshop
Google Analytics
Social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest

Starting date: Flexible - we’re happy to wait for the right person
Initially you are expected to be in the office five days a week (8.30am – 5pm weekdays) for your induction and training. Once both parties are happy, you will have the option to work from home one day a week, if you would like to and have the facilities. Once your probation period is finished (3 months), you will have the option to work from home two days a week.
