Responsibilities

  • Work with individuals who have experienced domestic violence and abuse through practical and emotional support
  • Review needs and risk assessments at entry and at appropriate intervals
  • Formulate and review progress against individual support plans, encouraging service users to set goals and supporting informed decisions about their futures
  • Support service users to implement actions from MARAC meetings and provide updates to IDVA colleagues as needed
  • Maintain client records on PTMWA’s information case management system and keep case files up to date
  • Complete written reports and client updates appropriate to the audience, presenting options and making clear recommendations
  • Provide or sign-post to information, advocacy, emotional and practical support related to housing, legal, financial and other matters, while maintaining confidentiality

Qualifications and experience

  • Relevant professional qualification, e.g., Health and Social Care Level Three or equivalent
  • Recent experience of direct work with vulnerable people, including those affected by domestic abuse, in 1:1 or group settings
  • Experience carrying out needs assessments and support planning
  • Strong understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on individuals and families
  • Knowledge of statutory and legal provisions for people experiencing domestic abuse
  • Awareness of child protection, safeguarding of vulnerable adults, and how to make safeguarding referrals
