Job Description
Shift and salary:
- AM – 9hrs shifts flexibility between 0600 – 1800, salary for days - £36001.71 per annum.
- Night Shift – 9hrs shifts flexibility between 1800 – 0600, salary for nights - £ 47988.87 per annum.
Deliver consistent performance, ensuring that all aspects of the operation are managed proactively, in-line with the Control Tower and on time. Ensuring that KPI’s are consistently achieved. High level of colleague engagement and management.
- Manage team attendance, performance, productivity and accuracy levels, motivating team members to achieve high levels through the Section Supervisors
- Co-ordinate the warehouse operation to ensure effective operational performance in accordance with the Control Tower
- Drive continuous improvement within the warehouse, implementing plans to consistently improve performance
- Responsibility for shift manning and labour management to achieve workloads in a time sensitive operation in line with agreed operational budget
- Overall management and responsibility for achieving operational KPI’s, including scanning, trunk off bay times and error KPI’s
- Maintain a good working knowledge of warehouse operation areas including tip time/areas, yard organisation, damage areas
- Communicate confidently and effectively with employees, Partners and other areas of the business to maintain and develop positive relationships
- Responsible for the promotion of Health and Safety within the warehouse promoting MHE and accountability
- Managing the performance of employees to ensure maximum productivity and taking appropriate steps to manage under performance
- Responsible for proactively managing and addressing any disciplinary matters that may arise enduring that the correct procedure is followed at all times
- Responsible for the control and management of all sickness and absence, supporting and management employees effectively to ensure low levels of absence
- By example and training, assist the FLTD’s in achieving and maintaining a safe, disciplined and effective hub operation
- Provide clear leadership whilst promoting a positive team atmosphere
- Assist the training team to successfully onboard new starters and feed back to relevant department managers on progress
- Inform the Operations Managers of any problems that cannot be resolved within the team and discuss solutions
- Continually monitor to ensure all freight, equipment and facilities are treated with care and respect, reporting any discrepancies to the relevant department manager
- Ensure MHE defects are correctly reported, repaired and communicated to the relevant department and teams
- Ensure all employees have received specific training instruction to safely complete their daily tasks.
- Inform an Operations Manager of any deviance from correct operating practices and take action to remedy
- Review practices and procedures to ensure they are efficient and fit for purpose, reporting back to the Operations Manager with suggested alternative solutions.
Qualifications
- Proven leader with experience of managing a large team (minimum 40 employees) in a busy fast paced warehouse
- Proven experience of all aspects of people management including probationary, attendance, performance and disciplinary matters
- PC literate including a good working knowledge of MS packages
- Knowledge and experience of safe working practice inclusive of all H+S elements
- Displays confidence and a pro-active approach and ability to motivate employees
- Ability to work as part of a team and demonstrate a professional attitude
- Organised and focussed approach to all administrative duties
- Ability to work effectively and accurately under pressure
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to problem solve
