The Head Coach Manager is responsible for leading and developing the club's padel programme while supporting the effective day-to-day management and operation of the club. The role combines coaching leadership and delivery with operational management, with responsibility for maintaining high coaching and staff standards, delivering an engaging programme of activities, supporting financial and operational planning, and ensuring a consistently high standard of member and customer experience., As the combined Head Coach Manager, you will work 40 hours per week, scheduled between Monday and Friday, 09:00 to 17:00, subject to the club's operational requirements and applicable contractual arrangements regarding breaks. Your employed responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Delivering padel coaching sessions;
- Managing and participating in social padel activities where required;
- Facilitating open games;
- Organising and running tournaments;
- Organising and supporting corporate events;
- Managing the day-to-day padel programme;
- Supporting the overall management and operation of the club;
- Managing and supporting coaching and other relevant staff; and
- Maintaining high standards of customer service, club presentation and member engagement.
Working hours and activities may be recorded through RotaCloud and Playtomic systems. All duties undertaken as part of the employee's contracted 40-hour working week will form part of the base salary. Any separate coaching or other services undertaken outside the employee's contracted hours will only be undertaken where separately agreed with the company and, where applicable, under a separate agreement governing the nature and terms of those services.
- Set and maintain high coaching standards across the club, ensuring coaches deliver sessions consistently and in accordance with the club's coaching methodology and expectations.
- Support and develop coaches to ensure they maintain appropriate qualifications, knowledge and skills.
- Ensure coaches receive appropriate training and development to remain current with company standards and coaching expectations.
- Oversee internal CPD (Continuing Professional Development) for coaches, tracking progress and identifying development needs.
- Provide coaching, guidance and feedback to members of the coaching team.
- Support the recruitment, onboarding and integration of new coaches where required.
Coaching Academy Programme
- Design, build and continuously develop a structured Coaching Academy Programme to support player development and progression.
- Establish clear levels, learning outcomes and progression criteria for players.
- Develop appropriate player pathways, including beginner to advanced and junior to adult progression.
- Regularly review and refresh academy content to ensure it remains relevant, engaging and commercially effective.
- Monitor participation and player progression and make recommendations for programme development.
Club Engagement & Activation
- Act as the club's Padel Activator, driving participation, energy and visibility of padel within the wider club community.
- Ensure sufficient coverage and structure for social padel sessions, including scheduling and coach allocation.
- Develop and maintain a calendar of social, community and competitive events.
- Encourage participation from existing members while helping to attract and engage new players.
- Create an inclusive and welcoming environment for players of all abilities.
Structure & Operations
- Ensure all padel activities, coaching, socials, academy sessions and competitions are appropriately structured, scheduled and resourced.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support consistent delivery across padel activities.
- Coordinate court availability, coach rotas and programme timetables to maximise court utilisation and minimise clashes.
- Work closely with the wider management team to identify operational improvements and opportunities for growth.
- Monitor the effectiveness and utilisation of the padel programme and make recommendations for improvement.
Leadership & Customer Experience
- Be the face and heartbeat of the Hub, welcoming members, players, guests and partners.
- Lead and maintain a customer-first culture where service excellence is the standard.
- Ensure members and visitors receive a consistently positive experience.
- Build strong relationships with members, coaches, partners and other stakeholders.
- Actively contribute to the culture and community of the Hub.
Team Management
- Manage, motivate and support the team to perform to a high standard.
- Allocate work and responsibilities effectively across the team.
- Support staff development, training and performance.
- Conduct regular 1:1s and provide appropriate feedback and coaching.
- Address performance, conduct and attendance matters appropriately, escalating issues where required.
- Work with the wider management and HR teams on recruitment, onboarding and employee matters.
Day-to-Day Operations
- Oversee the smooth day-to-day operation of the Hub.
- Manage and coordinate rotas, bookings, events and operational requirements.
- Ensure the Hub and its facilities are maintained to the required standards.
- Ensure relevant company policies, procedures, health and safety requirements and safeguarding arrangements are followed.
- Identify and address operational issues promptly.
- Support effective use of the club's systems, including RotaCloud and Playtomic.
Events & Growth
- Host and support events, tournaments and community activities that strengthen the Hub culture.
- Work closely with Marketing, Operations and Recruitment teams to improve the Hub experience and support business growth.
- Actively contribute to increasing membership, court utilisation, participation and awareness of padel within the local community.
- Identify opportunities to increase revenue and participation through coaching, events, competitions, corporate activity and other padel initiatives.
- Support the delivery of the club's commercial and operational objectives.
