About Padel Quarter

Padel Quarter is an exciting new padel club launching in Portsmouth — part of the fastest-growing sport in the world.

We're building a premium venue that combines high-quality padel courts with a great café, pro shop, events programme, and a genuinely welcoming club community.

The Role

Be part of something from day one.

We're recruiting for a brand-new padel club opening in Portsmouth, and we're looking for an enthusiastic Coach to help build an outstanding player experience from the very beginning.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified coach who enjoys delivering great coaching while also playing an active role in a growing sports business.

As a start-up club, you'll combine on-court coaching with supporting member experiences, sales activities and day-to-day club operations, helping us grow participation and establish a thriving padel community.

You'll work closely with the Head Coach and Club Manager, delivering coaching programmes for all ages and abilities while contributing to the welcoming atmosphere that will make Padel Quarter the go-to destination for padel in the region.

Whether you're coaching beginners, supporting junior development, assisting with events, or helping members make the most of their club experience, you'll play a key role in the success of the venue.

  • What You’ll Be Doing
  • Coaching (all ages and abilities)
  • Deliver coaching across all ages and abilities; juniors and adults, beginners through to advanced players, in individual, group and clinic formats.
  • Plan and run structured programmes including the junior programme, holiday camps, adult courses and school or community outreach, coordinating with the Head Coach.
  • Design and deliver individual lessons and player-development pathways for members at every level.
  • Help players of all levels with technique, rules, etiquette and on-court queries.
  • Support exhibition matches, competitions and social play events.
  • Courts and facilities
  • Ensure courts are clean, safe and in good playing condition before and after sessions.
  • Set up and pack down equipment for sessions and events.
  • Report maintenance or safety issues promptly to the Club Manager.
  • Sales and customer experience (excluding café / food service)
  • Greet and welcome customers on arrival and direct them as needed.
  • Handle court bookings and amendments on the booking system.
  • Manage racquet hire, taking payment and ensuring equipment is returned.
  • Process pro-shop sales and take customer payments accurately.
  • Give knowledgeable, friendly advice on equipment, membership and coaching options.
  • Events and club promotion
  • Assist with corporate events, competitions, social evenings and promotions.
  • Help promote the club and its programmes to members and visitors.
  • Support the Events & Marketing Manager at club events as required.
  • General club support
  • Carry out opening and closing procedures as rostered.
  • Complete general support tasks assigned by the Club Manager.
  • Uphold club rules, standards and a positive, inclusive atmosphere.
  • Monitor court use and etiquette, escalating issues where appropriate.

What We're Looking For

We need someone who has done this before — or something very close to it — and who is ready to take on the full scope of the role.

Essential

  • A recognised padel (or racket-sport) coaching qualification, with the ability to coach across all ages and abilities.
  • Proven coaching ability across the full spectrum; juniors, adults, beginners and higher-level players.
  • A warm, confident customer-service manner.
  • Reliable and flexible, and willing to work evenings and weekends on a variable rota.
  • Basic IT, booking-system and cash-handling ability.
  • Eligible to work in the UK and willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Desirable

  • LTA (or equivalent) padel coaching accreditation.
  • Experience in a sports, leisure or hospitality customer-facing role.
  • A current first-aid certificate.
  • A genuine interest in growing with a new club.
  • What's On Offer
  • Competitive salary of £28,000 to £34,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and coaching experience
  • Discretionary, non-contractual bonus
  • The opportunity to be part of a brand-new club from launch
