A highly skilled Water Hygiene Improvement Consultant is required to lead the development and delivery of a comprehensive water hygiene improvement programme across a mixed estate portfolio. This role will take responsibility for statutory compliance, risk reduction and programme development within a complex Local Authority environment, ensuring robust management of water assets, contractor oversight and the effective implementation of legislation, standards and written schemes of control.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the Responsible Person for ACOP L8 management and oversee all related compliance activity.
- Author, review and maintain Legionella Management Plans and implement effective Written Schemes of Control.
- Manage significant water asset lifecycle budgets to ensure value for money and long term asset resilience.
- Conduct detailed risk assessments and technical audits to ensure statutory compliance across the estate.
- Oversee and evaluate contractor performance to ensure consistently high quality service delivery.
- Prepare performance specifications and scoping documents for planned works and improvement projects.
- Lead safety focused resident improvement projects, including complex refits for vulnerable occupants.
Applicant Essentials
- HNC/HND in a related discipline.
- ACOP L8 certification in Water Hygiene.
- Level 3 Award in Legionella Control for Responsible Persons (RQF) or equivalent.
- Extensive experience managing water hygiene risk in complex or Local Authority environments.
- Strong technical knowledge of statutory compliance, auditing and contractor oversight.
- Experience specifying and managing complex refurbishment and improvement programmes.
- Good working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Level 2-3 plumbing qualifications.
- Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong commercial awareness and performance management capability.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office including Outlook and Teams.
- Up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance and safety standards.
Desirable
- BOHS P901 or HABC Level 2 Award in Legionella Awareness.
- Experience delivering water hygiene improvement programmes within Local Authorities.
- Experience managing remedial works and developing practical technical solutions.
