A Local Authority based in Gloucestershire is seeking an experienced Senior Planning Solicitor to support planning services.

Initial 3-Month Contract (high likelihood of extension)

Flexible Hybrid Working

This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and highly regarded legal team, providing specialist planning law support across three councils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and negotiating Section 106 Agreements
  • Advising on complex planning law matters
  • Managing and supporting Judicial Review processes
  • Attending and advising at Planning Committees
  • Reviewing reports and providing legal advice to officers and members
  • Supporting planning functions across multiple local authorities
  • Using case management and time recording systems effectively

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister with rights of audience, or CILEX Lawyer with litigation and advocacy rights
  • Extensive experience drafting Section 106 Agreements
  • Strong knowledge of Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL)
  • Up-to-date understanding of recent and upcoming planning law changes
  • Experience managing or advising on Judicial Reviews
  • Ability to attend Planning Committees
  • Ability to attend monthly legal team meetings in person

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • Licensing Committee and Sub-Committee attendance
  • Knowledge of taxi and/or premises licensing
  • Contract drafting experience
  • Prosecution experience
  • Enforcement experience
