We are seeking a capable and proactive Facilities Manager to oversee the day‐to‐day management, maintenance and safety of our independent primary school estate. This is a hands‐on and highly important role, ensuring a safe, well‐maintained and welcoming environment that supports excellent teaching, learning and pupil wellbeing.

Reporting to senior leadership, the Facilities Manager will take responsibility for facilities operations, maintenance activities, health & safety compliance and contractor coordination across the school site, working closely with staff to ensure smooth daily operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estates & Maintenance Management
  • Oversee the day‐to‐day operation and maintenance of the school's buildings, grounds and facilities.
  • Ensure the school site is safe, clean, well‐presented and suitable for a primary school environment.
  • Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance to minimise disruption to school activities.
  • Support refurbishment, improvement and minor capital projects as required.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and statutory requirements relevant to schools.
    • Carry out and monitor risk assessments, inspections and routine checks.
    • Support compliance in key areas including fire safety, asbestos, legionella and site security.
  • Contractors & Site Coordination
    • Manage external contractors and service providers, ensuring work is carried out safely, on time and to a high standard.
    • Liaise with staff to coordinate works around the school timetable.
    • Maintain positive relationships with staff, pupils, parents and visitors.
    Requirements
    • Proven experience in a facilities, estates or maintenance management role, ideally within education, however this is not essential.
    • Good knowledge of health & safety practices and building maintenance.
    • Experience coordinating contractors and service providers.
    • Practical, organised and able to prioritise tasks effectively.
    • Strong communication and problem‐solving skills.
    • A hands‐on, proactive approach with pride in maintaining a high‐quality school environment.
