We are seeking an experienced Damp & Mould Surveyor to support a local authority in assessing, diagnosing, and managing damp, mould, and condensation issues across residential housing stock. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring safe, compliant, and healthy living conditions for tenants.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough on-site inspections of residential properties to identify the presence, cause, and severity of damp, mould, and condensation.
- Diagnose root causes using technical knowledge, moisture readings, and visual assessment.
- Produce high-quality reports outlining findings, recommended remedial actions, and estimated timeframes.
- Liaise with tenants, contractors, housing officers, and internal teams to ensure effective communication and follow-up.
- Support the implementation of damp and mould policies, including compliance with obligations under updated housing and safety standards.
- Recommend and prioritise repairs or interventions, ensuring works are delivered efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records and update case management systems as required.
- Provide technical advice to the wider housing team on building pathology and preventative solutions.
Requirements
- Proven experience in diagnosing and managing damp, mould, and building defects (public sector experience desirable).
- Knowledge of housing legislation, including health and safety standards related to damp and mould.
- Strong understanding of building pathology and remedial solutions.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage a varied caseload, and prioritise urgent cases.
- Professional qualification in building surveying, property services, or a related field (desirable but not essential).
