Locum Childcare Solicitor - Hybrid Opportunity

I'm currently working with a Local Authority inSouth East Londonseeking an experiencedLocum Childcare Solicitorto support their Legal Services Team.

Initial 3-Month Contract(strong likelihood of extension)

Β£50-Β£60 per hour

HybridWorking(with in-person advocacy requirements)

This is an excellent opportunity to join afriendly and collaborative legal team, handling a varied childcare caseload within a well-established Local Authority legal department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a caseload of Childcare matters with minimal supervision
  • UndertakingCourt Advocacyon averageBi-Weekly
  • Handling proceedings under the Children Act 1989, including Care Orders, Supervision Orders and Emergency Protection Orders
  • Preparing legal documentation and applications for court proceedings
  • Attending and advising at legal planning meetings, PLO meetings and case conferences
  • Providing legal advice and support to social workers, team managers and senior officers
  • Instructing and liaising with Counsel where required
  • Keeping up to date with legislative and case law developments affecting Children's Services

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEX Lawyer
  • Strong working knowledge of theChildren Act 1989
  • Experience handling care proceedings from inception to conclusion
  • Advocacy experience and confidence attending Court hearings
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently with minimal supervision
