Non-Medical Prescriber (ADHD Medication Services)

As a Non-Medical Prescriber within our ADHD Medication Service, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based assessment, prescribing, treatment and ongoing care for children, young people and adults with ADHD. You will work autonomously within your professional scope of practice and prescribing competencies, managing ADHD medication titration, monitoring, clinical risk assessments and ongoing reviews. You'll make safe, informed clinical decisions by following NICE guidance, professional standards and organisational policies.

Working closely with our multidisciplinary team, you'll deliver compassionate, person-centred care that puts clients at the heart of their treatment. You'll build positive relationships with colleagues, patients and families to support joined-up care and shared decision-making. Through your expertise, you'll help us deliver a safe, effective and sustainable ADHD service while contributing to its ongoing development and success.

What Will I Be Doing?

• Deliver high-quality treatment planning review in line with NICE guidance, including medication initiation, titration and review using your clinical judgement to make safe, evidence-based treatment decisions.
• Prescribe and monitor ADHD medication safely by working within your prescribing competencies, following professional guidance and organisational policies, monitoring treatment effectiveness and side effects, and ensuring appropriate physical health monitoring is completed.
• Manage clinical risk and safeguard the people we support by completing comprehensive risk assessments, recognising and escalating concerns relating to safeguarding, medication misuse, diversion or deterioration.
• Work collaboratively with patients, families and colleagues by involving people in shared decision-making, communicating clearly with all stakeholders, and contributing to multidisciplinary discussions and care planning.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and uphold high standards of governance by producing clear, timely and legally compliant documentation.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our medication and treatment service by participating in clinical supervision, audit, reflective practice, service evaluation and quality improvement activities.
• Manage your workload safely and professionally by working within your scope of practice, maintaining professional registration, mandatory training and CPD.
• Use technology confidently to support excellent care by using electronic patient records, digital clinical platforms and communication systems accurately and securely.

You're Someone Who Has:

• A qualification as a Nurse, Doctor, Pharmacist, Psychiatrist or other appropriately registered healthcare professional, with current registration.
• An Independent and supplementary Non-Medical Prescribing (V300) qualification, or registered General Medical Practitioner status.
• At least one year's experience working within a specialist ADHD service.
• Experience undertaking clinical risk assessments and making safe, evidence-based prescribing decisions.
• Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• A great understanding of ADHD services, prescribing guidance, safeguarding, information governance and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Prescribing Competency Framework.
