Since launching in 2021, The Overlap has become one of the worlds most popular football and sports destinations with more than 38 million monthly views on You Tube, achieving 2.2 billion views across all platforms in 2025.

The Overlap spans sports including football, rugby and cricket and is home to fan debates, exclusive interviews, and the smash-hit series Stick to Football.

The long-form conversations with the biggest names in football, politics, business and world sport have set a new benchmark for authenticity, insight and storytelling.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for creative, collaborative people who are passionate about great storytelling and want to help shape the future of sports media by creating content that fans genuinely care about.

Your Role

This is an initial 12 month fixed-term contract.

We are looking for a highly organised, editorially strong and football-savvy Producer to join The Overlap.

This is a fast-paced role suited to someone who thrives under pressure, can think quickly and creatively, and is confident delivering high-quality content to tight deadlines.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day running of production, supporting daily recordings and overseeing quick-turnaround edits for same-day transmission.

You will bring excellent editorial judgement, strong writing skills, impeccable grammar, and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders and talent.

You will also be a collaborative team player with a calm, professional manner, capable of working across editorial, production and social teams to help deliver the strongest possible output across multiple platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Producing output in a fast-paced daily production environment.
  • Managing daily recordings and overseeing fast-turnaround edits for same-day transmission.
  • Providing leadership across the editorial, production and social teams to plan and deliver the best possible output.
  • Anticipating how audiences consume football content across multiple platforms and shaping output accordingly.
  • Writing clear, accurate and engaging copy to a high editorial standard.
  • Reviewing edits to ensure quality control, accuracy and editorial integrity.
  • Collaborating closely with on-screen talent and managing those relationships effectively, professionally and with confidence.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Staying up to date with football news, fixtures, players and wider trends to inform editorial and production decisions.
  • Ensuring all content meets editorial, legal and compliance standards.
  • Contributing ideas proactively and responding quickly to changing priorities and production needs.
  • Working collaboratively as part of a wider team to maintain a positive and high-performing production environment.
  • What You’ll Need
  • Proven experience in a Producer role within podcasts, digital media, broadcast, TV, or a similarly fast-paced content environment.
  • Experience delivering quick-turnaround content to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent football knowledge and a strong understanding of the sport, its stories and its audience.
  • Strong editorial judgement and the ability to make quick, sound decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent writing skills and outstanding grammar.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Confident working with on-screen or on-air talent, with a professional and personable manner.
  • Highly organised, adaptable and calm in a busy production setting.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across multiple teams.
  • Previous experience in similar work on podcasts and/or within a fast-paced media or TV environment.
