The long-form conversations with the biggest names in football, politics, business and world sport have set a new benchmark for authenticity, insight and storytelling.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for creative, collaborative people who are passionate about great storytelling and want to help shape the future of sports media by creating content that fans genuinely care about.

Your Role

This is an initial 12-month fixed-term contract.

The Social Lead will play a pivotal role in driving the day-to-day social output across The Overlap channels.

Working closely with the Head of Social, you'll help lead a team of social producers and editors, ensuring our content is best-in-class across every platform while helping shape the future direction of our social strategy.

This is a hands-on leadership role combining people management, creative thinking, editorial judgement and platform expertise.

You'll help translate our content into social-first formats that grow audiences, deepen engagement and strengthen our brands.

As we continue to expand our slate of programming, you'll be instrumental in developing innovative strategies that maximise the impact of every piece of content we produce.

You'll work closely with the Head of Social to help lead the social team, supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term planning.

You'll help oversee our social output while identifying new opportunities to grow audiences, improve workflows and evolve our presence across platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Social in managing the day-to-day running of the social team across The Overlap channels.
  • Help develop and implement the overall social strategy across You Tube, Instagram, Tik Tok, X, Facebook and emerging platforms.
  • Lead the planning and execution of social campaigns around key shows, live events and major football moments.
  • Own the social strategy for new content launches, ensuring every show has a clear audience growth plan.
  • Mentor and develop members of the social team, providing feedback and helping maintain consistently high creative standards.
  • Identify new content formats, platform trends and audience behaviours to keep both brands at the forefront of sports media.
  • Analyse performance data and turn insights into actionable recommendations that improve reach, engagement and watch time.
  • Help improve workflows, planning processes and publishing operations across the team.
  • Maintain editorial standards and ensure content reflects the tone and quality expected of brand channels.
  • What You'll Need
  • Significant experience leading social media for a sports, media or entertainment brand.
  • A deep understanding of football audiences and the content that performs across different social platforms.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing or mentoring creative teams.
  • Excellent editorial judgement and an instinct for what makes compelling social content.
  • Experience using analytics to inform creative and strategic decisions.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to balance day-to-day execution with long-term planning.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
