Your Role

This is an initial 12 month fixed-term contract.

We are looking for a highly experienced, editorially strong and football-savvy Senior Producer to join The Overlap.

This is a senior role for someone who can do more than deliver great content day to day. As Senior Producer, you will take a leading role in shaping output, driving editorial standards, and supporting the wider team to produce best-in-class content across platforms. You will be expected to bring strong creative judgement, make confident editorial decisions, and take ownership of production delivery in a fast-paced environment.

While a Producer is responsible for executing content effectively, the Senior Producer will help set the standard for how that content is developed, produced and delivered. You will play a key role in overseeing workflows, guiding more junior team members, working closely with senior stakeholders and talent, and helping ensure that The Overlap’s content remains distinctive, relevant and high quality.

The successful candidate will combine excellent editorial instincts with strong production experience, leadership capability and a deep understanding of football culture and audience behaviour.

As a Senior Producer at The Overlap, you will:

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the end-to-end production of daily, weekly and campaign-based content.
  • Taking senior editorial responsibility, ensuring a consistently high standard from idea development through to final delivery.
  • Overseeing daily recordings and fast-turnaround edits, delivering high-quality output to deadline.
  • Helping shape the editorial agenda by identifying compelling stories, contributors and opportunities across football and wider sport.
  • Providing leadership across editorial, production and social teams to deliver audience-focused, platform-appropriate content.
  • Acting as a senior creative voice in the development of new formats, episodes and recurring content strands.
  • Reviewing scripts, copy and edits to ensure strong storytelling, accuracy, compliance and quality.
  • Building trusted relationships with on-screen talent, sponsors, internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Supporting planning and decision-making in a fast-paced production environment, helping teams respond quickly to changing priorities.
  • Mentoring Producers and junior team members, raising capability and maintaining high editorial standards.
  • Driving continuous improvement across production processes, editorial decision-making and creative output.
  • Ensuring all content meets legal, editorial and compliance requirements.
  • Maintaining expert knowledge of football news, talent and fan culture to inform editorial and strategic decisions.

What You’ll Need

  • Significant experience as a Producer, with clear readiness to operate at Senior Producer level, or existing experience in a Senior Producer role within podcasts, digital media, broadcast, TV or a similarly fast-paced content environment.
  • Demonstrable experience leading productions, taking ownership of editorial output and influencing creative direction.
  • Strong editorial judgement, with the confidence to make decisions independently, prioritise effectively and maintain high standards under pressure.
  • Excellent football knowledge and a strong instinct for the stories, talent and conversations that resonate with audiences.
  • Strong understanding of multi-platform content, with experience shaping output across YouTube, social and other digital channels through to final delivery.
  • Excellent writing, scripting and copy-editing skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Confident building relationships with high-profile talent, contributors and senior stakeholders, alongside strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience mentoring and developing junior team members.
  • Calm, adaptable and highly organised, with the ability to thrive in a demanding production environment.

Please note that this job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties. The successful candidate may be required to undertake other reasonable responsibilities appropriate to the role.

Due to the nature of the position, flexibility is essential. This may include occasional late starts or finishes, weekend working and bank holiday working where required.
