An exciting opportunity for an experienced sales professional to join a specialist supplier serving the food & drink / fresh produce supply chain. This senior, field facing Sales Manager role combines new business development with strategic account management and close collaboration with technical and field support teams. The role is home/office hybrid with regular travel to a North Yorkshire office and frequent UK customer site visits.
Role overview
You will own territory growth across the UK, converting leads into contracted business while protecting and expanding existing accounts. Working alongside field support and commercial colleagues, you will present technically grounded commercial solutions to customers, negotiate contracts, and drive pipeline and revenue for the business.
Key responsibilities
- Generate new business via CRM lead follow up, targeted outreach, industry networking and direct approaches.
- Manage and grow existing accounts, coordinating with field support to ensure customers receive excellent service and delivery.
- Produce accurate pipeline and activity records in the CRM and deliver concise field and business reports to senior management.
- Negotiate commercial terms, prepare proposals and close contracts with growers, processors and supply chain partners.
- Feed market insight and competitor intelligence into commercial and marketing strategy.
- Represent the business at demonstrations, customer visits and industry events; maintain high standards of health & safety and professionalism on site.
Skills & Experience
- Proven track record in B2B sales within agriculture, fresh produce, food & drink or a closely related technical sector.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience negotiating and closing medium to large deals.
- Comfortable selling technically detailed solutions; able to translate product or protocol detail into clear commercial benefits.
- Excellent relationship building and influencing skills; confident engaging with senior customer contacts and supply chain decision makers.
- CRM proficient with strong organisational discipline and reporting capability.
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across the UK, with regular attendance at the North Yorkshire office.
- Sector specific knowledge (e.g., agronomy, storage/coldstore operations or post harvest systems) or an agricultural degree is desirable but not essential where strong commercial success exists.
