Our client, a leading food producer, are currently looking for a Senior National Account Manager to drive sustainable revenue and profit growth through strong customer partnerships, robust account planning, and commercially astute execution.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Head of Sales, this is a high-impact senior commercial role responsible for leading and developing relationships with some of the business's most strategic customers. In addition to owning key accounts, this role plays an important leadership role within the commercial team, supporting the development of National Account Managers and Executives and contributing to wider commercial strategy, capability, and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Account Leadership
- Own and develop relationships with assigned strategic customers, delivering agreed revenue, margin, and growth targets.
- Lead the creation and execution of long-term customer account plans aligned to wider commercial and business objectives.
- Build trusted, value-adding relationships with customers at multiple levels, including senior decision-makers.
- Commercial Performance & Growth
- Identify and deliver new business opportunities, including range expansion, upselling, and value-added initiatives.
- Analyse customer performance, market trends, and commercial data to inform planning and decision-making.
- Monitor account KPIs, proactively managing risks and addressing performance gaps.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Supply Chain, Technical, Finance, Product, and Process teams to ensure seamless delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Act as a central point of coordination for internal teams supporting key accounts.
- Leadership & Team Contribution
- Support and mentor National Account Managers and Executives working on shared accounts, providing guidance and performance input.
- Act as a senior voice within the commercial function, contributing to planning, process improvement, and best-practice sharing.
- Role-model strong commercial behaviours and the company's values across all internal and external interactions.
Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in account management within food, FMCG, or retail-facing environments.
- Proven track record of managing and growing large, complex customer accounts.
- Excellent commercial and financial acumen with strong negotiation capability.
- Experience leading strategic account plans and managing cross-functional delivery.
- Confidence presenting and influencing at a senior internal and external level.
- Experience supporting, mentoring, or coaching junior commercial team members.
