We are partnering with a leading FMCG manufacturer, renowned for its commitment to quality and sustainability throughout its supply chain, to recruit a site based Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE Manager) as part of their site Leadership team. This is a rare opportunity to join a high-performing site in the Northwest London area, with robust systems already in place and a low incident rate. We now need a visionary HSE Manager to take the site-wide safety culture to the next level.
This isn’t a "clipboard and whistle" role. You will be a highly visible individual contributor, acting as a coach and trusted advisor to the Site Leadership Team. Your mission is to move beyond regulatory compliance and embed a proactive, behavioural safety mindset across the entire operation.
The Split:
- 70% Health & Safety: Shifting the focus from enforcement to engagement, coaching leaders to improve decision-making and risk ownership.
- 30% Environmental & Sustainability: Driving innovation in energy efficiency, water reduction, and food waste segregation in collaboration with Engineering and Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of behavioural safety programs, focusing on mindset shifts and "real-time" coaching interventions on the shop floor.
- Design and deliver a site-specific HSE strategy that aligns with broader business and sustainability goals.
- Act as the site lead for the Environmental Management System, identifying and implementing projects to reduce utility consumption and improve waste segregation.
- Maintain the site’s "competent person" status, overseeing audits, ISO standards, and fire/security management.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure safety and sustainability are integrated into the fabric of daily operations.
The successful Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager will ideally hold or be working towards the NEBOSH Diploma level with associated environmental certifications. Experience in a manufacturing / logistics & transportation environment is required. You may be a seasoned EHS expert seeking a new challenge; however, this role could also be suited to someone looking to take their first step into HSE leadership and will be offered coaching and support to develop as part of the Site Leadership Team.
Unfortunately, my client is unable to offer sponsorship; candidates will be required to hold full rights to live and work in the UK indefinitely.
Benefits include: up to 20% bonus, company pension scheme with life assurance + private medical options; travel & green energy discount schemes.
