A B-Corp accredited FMCG manufacturing business is now seeking a visionary ESG Officer to step into a brand-new, highly impactful role. This is a unique opportunity to build and shape an ESG reporting function, moving the business from reactive data collection to a proactive, world-class framework, and becoming the company ‘go to person’ on all ESG related matters. While the initial priority lies heavily on the People, CSR, and Supply Chain reporting, you will work hand-in-hand with the wider environmental sustainability teams to ensure the business is fully ahead of the curve. This is a hybrid role - 50% of working month is office based, 50% WFH. Flexible start and finishing times also available.
Key Responsibilities of the ESG Officer:
- Build the Framework: Design process maps, governance structures, database systems, and controls for all non-financial and ESG reporting from the ground up.
- Own ESG Reporting: Develop, manage, and deliver robust reports aligned to UK and international regulations (including Section 172, Anti-bribery, Gender Pay Gap, Modern Slavery, etc.).
- Horizon Scanning: Actively research and monitor upcoming legislation (e.g., CSDDD, CSRD, EUDR, PPWR) to interpret how changing regulations will impact the global business.
- Internal Stakeholder Engagement: Drive internal selling and education. You will use your gravitas to influence department heads, ensuring ESG reporting stays firmly on their agendas and deadlines are met.
- Strategy & Committee Leadership: Partner closely with the Sustainability Manager to develop long-term sustainability strategies, and lead meetings for the internal Compliance Committee to maintain high visibility for leadership.
The successful ESG Officer:
- Experience: Proven experience working within an ESG, corporate governance, or regulatory compliance role.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong foundational knowledge of modern ESG frameworks and upcoming regulations (e.g., CSDDD, CSR, EUDR, PPWR).
