We are partnering with a B-Corp accredited FMCG manufacturing business that operates a truly global supply chain and serves an international customer base. Driven by ethical practices and sustainability, they are a purpose-led organisation experiencing brilliant growth. As they expand and pass new compliance thresholds, they are heavily investing in their internal governance. They are now seeking a visionary ESG Lead / Officer to step into a brand-new, highly impactful role. This is a unique opportunity to build and shape an ESG reporting function completely from scratch, moving the business from reactive data collection to a proactive, world-class framework, and becoming the company ‘go to person’ on all ESG related matters. While the initial priority lies heavily on the People, CSR, and Supply Chain reporting, you will work hand-in-hand with the wider environmental sustainability teams to ensure the business is fully ahead of the curve.

Key Responsibilities of the ESG Lead/ Officer:

  • Build the Framework: Design process maps, governance structures, database systems, and controls for all non-financial and ESG reporting from the ground up.
  • Own ESG Reporting: Develop, manage, and deliver robust reports aligned to UK and international regulations (including Section 172, Anti-bribery, Gender Pay Gap, Modern Slavery, etc.).
  • Horizon Scanning: Actively research and monitor upcoming legislation (e.g., CSDDD, CSRD, EUDR, PPWR) to interpret how changing regulations will impact the global business.
  • Internal Stakeholder Engagement: Drive internal selling and education. You will use your gravitas to influence department heads, ensuring ESG reporting stays firmly on their agendas and deadlines are met.
  • Strategy & Committee Leadership: Partner closely with the Sustainability Manager to develop long-term sustainability strategies, and lead meetings for the internal Compliance Committee to maintain high visibility for leadership.

The Ideal Candidate for the ESG Lead:

  • A self-starter with a proven track record who can comfortably build, shape, and mould a function.
  • Experience: Proven experience working within an ESG, corporate governance, or regulatory compliance role.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong foundational knowledge of modern ESG frameworks and upcoming regulations (e.g., CSDDD, CSR, EUDR, PPWR).
  • The Builder Mindset: Experience setting up data collection systems or frameworks where none previously existed.
  • Influence & Gravitas: Exceptional relationship-building skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams (HR, Legal, Supply Chain, Sustainability) and hold department heads accountable to reporting obligations.

What’s on Offer?

  • Autonomy & Growth: This role currently has no direct reports, but as the business and regulatory requirements grow, it is fully envisioned that you will build and scale a team around you.
  • Global Impact: The chance to align local strategies with a wider, globally renowned parent group.
  • Purpose-Driven Culture: Work for a verified B-Corp business where your day-to-day contributions genuinely matter.

Please note, visa sponsorship is not supported for this role. The successful ESG Lead / Officer will hold full and indefinite rights to live and work in the UK.
