I am working with a well-established food manufacturing business, who are on the hunt for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer. You’ll be based on their modern UK production facility, where they manufacture high-volume, high-quality food products, which is supplied to major retail, foodservice, and global customers.
Role Overview
They are seeking a Multiskilled Engineer to join their Engineering team, covering a double days shift pattern Monday to Friday (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm). This is a hands-on role providing reactive and preventative electrical and mechanical maintenance support to production, ensuring machinery reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting efficient manufacturing operations. You will work across a wide range of food manufacturing equipment, contributing directly to plant performance, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain plant and machinery to meet production requirements
- Respond quickly and efficiently to machinery breakdowns
- Diagnose faults, identify root causes, and implement effective repairs
- Deliver a preventative maintenance programme to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability
- Carry out machinery installations and modifications when required
- Work closely with production teams to support machine changeovers and settings
- Ensure all planned and preventative maintenance documentation is accurate and up to date
- Maintain engineering standards in line with company policies
- Ensure compliance with Food Safety, Health & Safety, COSHH, and relevant legislation
- Manage spares and stock control, including critical spares listings
- Participate in shift handovers and maintain audit-ready standards at all times
- Contribute ideas for continuous improvement
Requirements
- Time-served Electrical or Mechanical Engineer
- Strong fault-finding and repair skills across electrical and mechanical systems
- Experience maintaining production and packaging machinery
- Full UK driving licence
- HNC or equivalent engineering qualification
- Previous experience within Food Manufacturing or FMCG
- Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, conveyor, and automated systems
- CMMS experience
