We are currently recruiting for a Brewing & Syrup Operator to join a busy and well-established beverage manufacturing site in Bedford. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a production environment where you will gain exposure across multiple areas of the process, from raw material intake through to bright beer and syrup production.
The role offers structured training and development, with salary increases as you progress through the site’s multiskilling matrix, allowing you to grow your skills and earnings over time.
Key Responsibilities- Stock control and storage of materials and ingredients
- Accurate record keeping and documentation
- Maintaining housekeeping and hygiene standards in line with internal and external audits
- Using site automation systems including SCADA
- Operating the site LIMS quality control system
- Malt handling and milling
- Operating a complex dual-stream brewhouse
- Accurate weighing and dosing of hops and other brewing additions
- Transfer of wort from coppers to fermentation vessels
- Monitoring fermentation processes
- Yeast handling
- Green beer centrifugation and other product transfers
- CIP (Clean in Place) of brewing equipment
- Operation of powder filtration systems
- Loading and unloading road tankers
- Handling and transferring bright beer to packaging lines
- CIP of filters, pipework and bright beer tanks
- Accurate stock control and documentation
- Measuring and preparing syrup ingredients
- Syrup production and supply to the canning line
- CIP of syrup production equipment and can fillers
- Previous food production, beverage, or manufacturing experience preferred
- Forklift licence desirable (training can be provided on site)
- Computer literate and comfortable using production systems
- Able to work shift patterns depending on operational requirements
- Strong awareness of health & safety standards
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Capable of following procedures while also using initiative and managing time effectively
