The Oval Partnership is recruiting a Shift Manager for a leading FMCG manufacturer at a site near the Somerset - Dorset border. Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful Shift Manager will organise and inspire their team to meet daily production and packing plans safely, cost-effectively, and to the highest quality standards.
The Shift Manager will be responsible for:
- Safety & Compliance: Ensuring all staff meet stringent safety and GMP food standards.
- Team Leadership: Managing performance, attendance, and professional development for factory and warehouse operatives.
- Operational Efficiency: Organising staff rotation, prioritising engineering tasks, and supporting Continuous Improvement (CI) plans to maximise performance.
- Communication: Managing shift handovers, reporting metrics via SAP, and collaborating with the Production Manager to hit balanced scorecard targets.
Shift Manager Schedule: Work Half the Year. 4, 5, 5, 4 rotating shift patterns.
- The Hours: 12-hour shifts (07:00 – 19:00 and 19:00 – 07:00).
- The Benefit: By rotating between days and nights on this schedule, you are effectively working just half of the year, allowing for significant time away from the site to recharge and pursue your own hobbies and interests.
About You
- Experience: At least 3 years of people leadership experience in a food / FMCG manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of FMCG manufacturing, SAP/ERP processes, and BRC/IFS food standards.
- Skills: Competency in numeracy and written English, with a track record of working effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.
Location: Situated on the Somerset / Dorset border, commutable from areas such as: Taunton, Honiton, Chard, Crewkerne, Dorchester, Yeovil, Weymouth.
