Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Shift Maintenance Engineer to join the Engineering team at a busy food manufacturing site. Working as part of a multi-skilled engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and continuous operation of production machinery, utilities and engineering systems throughout your shift. The role will involve a combination of planned preventative maintenance, reactive breakdown response, fault finding and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on minimising production downtime and maintaining high standards of food safety, quality and Health & Safety. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer with experience in FMCG, food manufacturing or other high-volume production environments who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and solving complex engineering problems. Key Responsibilities * Respond quickly and effectively to mechanical and electrical breakdowns, minimising production downtime. * Carry out planned preventative maintenance in line with agreed maintenance schedules. * Complete and accurately record all planned and reactive maintenance activities through the CMMS. * Ensure food safety and quality remain a priority during all engineering activities. * Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, productivity, energy efficiency and overall plant performance. * Support engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives. * Ensure site facilities and utilities remain electrically and mechanically safe. * Support and control contractors, including the use of Permits to Work. * Contribute to internal hygiene audits and continuous improvement of audit performance. * Work in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures and engineering standards. Requirements * Time-served engineering apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 Engineering Maintenance (or equivalent). * Minimum 2 years' engineering experience within a production/manufacturing environment. * Strong multi-skilled engineering background. * Experience with both planned preventative and reactive maintenance. * Good mechanical maintenance and fabrication skills. * Experience working with planned maintenance systems / CMMS. * Good understanding of Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment. * Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability. * Logical and structured approach to diagnosing engineering issues. * Experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment. * Good communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work effectively as part of a team and engage with colleagues across the business.
