Contract type 26 hours a week, permanent.

Join our catering team and help create a welcoming environment where young people can thrive.

You’ll be part of a busy, friendly team, helping deliver a great experience for every guest and course participant.

The team prepares hot, home-style meals to keep course participants going in all weathers – from a hearty breakfast to fuel the day, to a well‑earned evening meal with plenty to choose from.

It’s a role that puts you right at the heart of daily life at a busy outdoor learning centre.

You’ll mainly work weekday evening shifts, Monday to Thursday.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll:

  • Prepare and serve food, including counter service
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and handle chemicals responsibly
  • Maintain a clean, safe kitchen and follow food hygiene standards
  • Support dietary requirements and allergy management
  • Deliver a warm, professional level of customer care
  • Report maintenance issues promptly
  • Follow health, safety, security, and emergency procedures and policies
  • Work effectively as part of a team, communicating with colleagues and managers
  • Perform other reasonable duties as required
  • Deliver high standards across all hospitality areas in line with Service Level Agreements

This is a practical, people‑focused job in a unique setting. You’ll need to enjoy working as part of a team, be flexible with tasks and ready to get stuck in. In return, we’ll provide full training, a positive work environment and the chance to be part of something meaningful.

  • Have a friendly, can‑do attitude and enjoy being part of a team
  • Can follow instructions and also work independently
  • Care about hospitality and want to do a good job
  • Are physically fit and happy to be on your feet, lifting or moving around site
  • Have strong attention to detail
  • Are trustworthy, dependable and flexible with tasks
  • Communicate well with all kinds of people
  • Understand the importance of personal hygiene and presentation
  • Believe in what Outward Bound stands for and want to help make it happen

It’s a bonus if you also...

  • Have previous experience in catering (but it’s not essential – full training is provided)

We hold ourselves to high standards. We support one another, step up when it counts and always put young people first.

Mountains behind you, beach in front. This is where work, community and adventure come together. From sea cliffs to Cadair Idris, there’s always somewhere to explore and people to join you.

If this sounds like your kind of role, we’d love to hear from you.

  • Interviews will be arranged for a date and time that is mutually convenient.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds – your unique experience and perspective matter to us.

This role involves working closely with young people and requires a disclosure check. We'll handle that as part of the process.

Nature doesn’t discriminate. Neither do we.

We’re committed to making our recruitment process as fair and inclusive as possible. That means actively working to remove unconscious bias and the influence of privilege from our processes.

We also know how powerful it can be for young people to see themselves in the people around them. That’s why we encourage applications from individuals who reflect the diverse backgrounds and identities of the young people we work with. By building a team that young people can relate to, we can help more of them see what’s possible.

We endeavour not to discriminate based on age, disability, gender reassignment, marital status, being pregnant, race, religion, sex or sexual orientation.

Looking for something else?

This role might not be for you, but your next adventure could still start here.
