The Orchard Surgery is a well-established GP practice on the Wirral and has nearly 7000 patients. We have an exciting opportunity for a Care Navigator/Administrator/Prescription Clerk to join our caring, hard-working, dedicated practice team.
Responsibilities
- Thorough knowledge of all practice procedures.
- Work in accordance with written protocols.
- Handling of medical records; photocopy, scan and email as requested.
- Read code information identified through patient contact for example "Carer".
- Prescription request processing and query handling.
- Dealing with Patients Receiving patients consulting with members of the practice team.
- Handling completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address.
- Provide care navigation in person and over the phone by enquiring about need and signposting accordingly.
- Ensure detailed information about complaints or issues is shared with the Office Manager and Practice Business Manager.
- Check pink box during every contact and offer services eg: shingles, flu, BP.
- Process appointment requests with the most appropriate member of the practice team.
- Process patients' change of address/telephone number/mobile/email address.
- Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines.
- Process registrations for patient access and/or deal with any enquiries.
- Creating blood forms and urine sample forms.
- Creating choose and book referrals to the correct department and liaising with patients if it is directly bookable.
- Have working knowledge of telephone system.
- Answer calls in a timely manner as a priority.
- Chasing results from the different labs.
Practice Overview
We are a 3 Partner practice, with 4 salaried GP's, a Nurse Clinician, Practice Nurse team, HCA, 3 GP Registrars and a wide team of varied healthcare roles working at the practice. We are proud to be a recognised training practice and regularly have GP Registrars and medical students working at the surgery completing their GP Training, being mentored by our GP's. We are also a Military Veteran Support surgery and are part of the Green Impact Project, working towards a greener, sustainable way of working.
Job Details
We are seeking someone with experience of working within a customer-focussed setting who will work up to 23 hours per week Monday - Friday including late cover until 6:30pm (8pm Thursdays). Flexibility is a must with availability as overtime is required to cover staff absences on occasions. 6 months probationary period. Annual leave entitlement is 5 weeks (pro-rata) plus bank holidays.
