Make a difference Healthcare Assistant (Nights) – Community End of Life Care – Orkney
We are looking for compassionate healthcare assistants to support people with terminal illness in their own homes across Orkney’s rural and island communities. You’ll help local patients remain close to the people and
places they love, while providing kind, dignified end-of-life care.

Salary: OIRO £38,422.24 to £41,742.72 per annum pro rata (based on AFC Band 2 base salary £26,696 to £28,988 per annum plus enhancements for weekday and Saturday night working) plus additional enhancements for Sundays and public holidays. In addition, Island Allowance £1,716 pro rata per annum.
Hours: 27 hours per week, working 3 nights across 7 days.
Contract: part-time permanent.
Location: community-based across Orkney.
What we’re looking for
You’ll be a kind, compassionate and reliable person who is passionate about providing exceptional care. Ideally, you will have:
- Experience within a health or social care setting
- Experience of palliative or end-of-life care would be an advantage
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, or a willingness to work
towards this - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to support patients with personal care, mobility, nutrition and comfort
- A commitment to treating every patient with dignity, respect and compassion
- Flexibility to work night shifts and weekends
