About the Role
The Open University’s (OU) Library Service has an exciting opportunity within the Learner and Discovery Services (LDS) Team. Our Library connects the OU Community with world-class information, technology, and expertise to support learning, teaching, scholarship, and research.
We seek qualified individuals aligned with our mission and vision to support learning activities, develop students as independent learners, and collaborate across the OU’s LDS portfolio to enhance digital capabilities and integrate Library content into the curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Support learning and teaching activities by advising on access to and use of Library Services content, resources, and services for students, learners, and staff.
- Partner with the LDS unit and faculty to support digital capabilities and systematically incorporate library content into curricula using innovative approaches.
- Promote and embody the OU’s values and behaviors.

Skills and Experience
- Degree in librarianship or information science (or equivalent qualification/experience).
- Proficiency in Office 365, databases, and library management systems.
- Understanding of designing accessible learning experiences and effective teaching methods.
- Experience with electronic resources and learning technologies.
- Experience creating educational web content and writing for online platforms.
- Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences, negotiation, and conflict management.
- Effective planning, prioritization, and deadline management.
- Proactive problem-solving, judgment, and risk management.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships across organizational boundaries.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
- Awareness of and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
