This is a role for someone who enjoys improving things, not just maintaining them. You’ll join a fast-paced purchasing team with a strong reputation locally, helping take the function to the next level. Reporting into the Purchasing Manager, the focus here is on developing people, improving processes, strengthening supplier relationships, and helping create a more proactive, commercially focused procurement team.

It’s a hands-on supervisory role. You’ll be involved in the day to day running of the function, solving problems quickly, supporting the team, and keeping things moving in a busy environment where priorities can shift quickly.

Alongside supplier management and purchasing activity, you’ll also get involved in demand planning, KPI reporting, lead time reviews, continuous improvement, and helping shape how the team develops moving forward.

The business itself has grown significantly over recent years, adding around 100 people in the last four and a half years, with further investment and growth still ongoing. Despite that growth, it has retained a genuinely people focused culture with strong leadership, low ego, and a collaborative working environment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting and developing members of the purchasing team
  • Managing supplier relationships and performance
  • Leading supplier lead time reviews and internal updates
  • Supporting forecasting and demand planning activity
  • Presenting spend, KPI, and non-conformance data
  • Driving process improvements across the procurement function
  • Ensuring purchasing activity remains compliant and well organised

What you’ll need:

  • Experience in a Buyer, Senior Buyer, or Purchasing Supervisor role
  • Strong supplier management and negotiation skills
  • Good understanding of supply chain and procurement processes
  • Strong organisation and ability to prioritise workload effectively
  • Comfortable working with data, KPIs, and ERP systems
  • A proactive approach with the confidence to support and develop others
